Thomas Gautier Pesquet is a French aerospace engineer, pilot, and European Space Agency astronaut. Pesquet was selected by ESA as a candidate in May 2009, and he successfully completed his basic training in November 2010. From November 2016 to June 2017, Pesquet was part of Expedition 50 and Expedition 51 as a flight engineer. Pesquet will return to space in late 2021 on board a US Commercial Crew Vehicle for a second six-month stay on the ISS.
Bio

Thomas is an aerospace engineer, pilot and French astronaut with the European Space Agency. A veteran of a sixth month stay on the Station, Thomas will become the first European to fly on a commercial human spacecraft on Crew-2. His ESA mission name for this flight is Alpha, after Alpha Centauri, the closest star system to our Sun.
