Dr. Anil Menon was selected by NASA to join the 2021 Astronaut Candidate Class. He reported for duty in January 2022. Menon was SpaceX’s first flight surgeon, helping to launch its first humans to space during the Demo-2 mission and building a medical organization to support the human system during future missions. Prior, he served NASA as the crew flight surgeon for various expeditions on the International Space Station. Menon is an actively practicing emergency medicine physician with fellowship training in wilderness and aerospace medicine. As a physician he was a first responder during the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, 2015 earthquake in Nepal, and the 2011 Reno Air Show accident. In the U.S. Air Force, Lt. Col. Menon supports the 45th Space Wing as a flight surgeon and supported the 173rd Fighter Wing where he logged over 100 sorties in the F-15 and transported over 100 patients as part of the critical care air transport team. Soyuz MS-29

Roscosmos launched two Russian cosmonauts and a NASA astronaut to the Rassvet module of the International Space Station.

Soyuz is a human-carrying capsule built and operated by Russia, capable of transporting up to three people to the Space Station at a time. It has been upgraded numerous times since its first use in the 1960s for the Soviet lunar program and was the only crewed vehicle for the Station from 2011 to 2020.

Soyuz MS-19

The mission crew includes Roscosmos commander and cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, Russian film producer Klim Shipenko and actress Yulia Peresild to the International Space Station. Yulia and Klim both landed aboard the MS-18 Capsule.

Shipenko and Peresild will spend about a week on the ISS before returning to Earth aboard Soyuz MS-18, with the intention of producing the first feature-length film ‘The Challenge’ to be shot in outer space, while Shkaplerov will remain in orbit over a longer period.

NASA Astronaut Mark Vande Hei, Roscosmos cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov will be using Soyuz MS-19 to return to Earth from a multi-month long stay on the ISS.

Crew-5 is the fifth crewed operational NASA Commercial Crew flight of a Crew Dragon spacecraft, and the eight overall crewed orbital flight. This flight is using Crew Dragon capsule named Endurance making its second flight. This is the first U.S. crewed mission to carry a Russian cosmonaut since November, 2002.

Crew Dragon is the first privately built and operated orbital spacecraft capable of flying humans. As a reusable SpaceX capsule, it transports crew members to and from the International Space Station. It will also carry paying customers to the Station and low Earth orbit. While it typically accommodates a crew of four, this number can vary depending on the mission.
