Alper Gezeravci is a Turkish astronaut and air force pilot who was selected to be the first Turkish citizen to travel to the International Space Station (ISS). Gezeravci was born on August 1, 1978, in Ankara, Turkey. He attended the Air Force Academy in Istanbul, where he graduated as a pilot in 2001. He went on to serve as an F-16 pilot in the Turkish Air Force for over 21 years, achieving the rank of colonel.
